Efficient transports for the business sector form a prerequisite for tying together a well-functioning Norwegian economy and are a premise for the development of new, and utilization of existing infrastructure.
The research area covers studies of all sectors within the market for freight transport and the interaction between different market segments and the rest of the Norwegian economy. Analyses are both quantitative and qualitative in nature, ranging from investigations of development trends and ways to influence some sub-markets, to equilibrium models covering the entire economy. These types of knowledge are desired by transport users, transport operators and public authorities and are highly relevant for assessments of measures aimed at making transport more efficient and environmentally-friendly.
We have generally been intensive users of basis data from various studies conducted by Statistics Norway and others, but are increasingly exploring new data sources, including through collaboration with business actors and transport authorities.
