Locating a new comprehensive school in Vestfold – Impacts on transport

Attachments Sammendrag

Various groups have expressed a desire for a new comprehensive school in Holmestrand, in Vestfold County south of Oslo, and its development will be provided for locally. A new school will attract more pupils from a larger catchment area than the present comprehensive school does. This will influence transport needs and pupils’ welfare in terms of the daily travel to and from the school. Estimates indicate that the total amount of travel to a new and larger school in Holmestrand will be less than with its current location in the north of the county. This is partly due to the larger growth in the pupil population in Holmestrand, and partly due to Holmestrand’s central location in the county.
