Registrations of give way situations and conflicts between cyclists and car drivers at the junction Sørkedalsveien/Morgedalsvegen in Oslo were conducted during autumn 2007. Registrations were carried out as in 1997 and 2001 making it possible to compare changes in give way patterns and conflicts over time. The results show that the number of conflicts is further reduced from 2001 and thus that road users learn by experience. However, conflict reductions vary between situations in a way that suggests that those situations imposing great cognitive strain on the road users remain problematic. The retreat patterns shows that in the large majority of situations car drivers give way to bicyclists, but that this also varies between situations.
