The report describes the structure of the model Trenklin 2 and discusses possible applications of the model in light of the question whether the model is suitable for use for work related to the National Transport Plan. Unlike more established transport models (as RTM) or cost-benefit tools (as Merklin), the time value in Trenklin depends on the crowding level on board the train. We find, among others, that the value of time for passengers seated are too high given the applied method where people have different value of time dependent on the seating availability. On more general grounds, we conclude that the model is well suited for projects that adjust time tables and other detailed train polices. The report mentions possible improvements for future model versions.
