The Norwegian transport modelling system has been evaluated as a set of decision support tools for climate policy analysis. The system consists of several vehicle, travel and freight demand models linked with networks and models for infrastructure and transport supply. The evaluation sets out to describe each model in considerable detail, to assess each model’s strength and weaknesses, and to identify opportunities for improvement, synergy and coordination. In general, the modelling system is found to have considerable value for climate policy formulation and assessment. Ongoing and potential new endeavours to improve the models could further enhance their usefulness.
