The report documents the rise in sales of retail goods in 20 Norwegian municipalities during the period 2004-2012 using data from SSB and various databases on malls. The main trend in the development of trade is that growth is greater in the municipality as such than in the municipal center. The city centers are losing ground, but to varying degrees. Shopping centers in many municipalities as a whole also have larger revenue change than shopping centers located in the city centers. In the city center, however, the malls have strengthened their position at the expense of trade in other parts of the city center.
