In cooperation with Ruter, the Institute of Transport Economics has developed a model for transport choice based on data from Ruter’s Market Information System (MIS). The spreadsheet model MPM23 calculates changes in market share for car (driver and passenger), walk, bicycle, train, bus and tram / metro as a result of different measures. The model is capable to study competition between different public transport modes. MPM23 segments results on submarkets (for travel purposes, distance, and large zones) and illustrates how heterogeneous travel mode choice is in Oslo / Akershus. The report documents the methodology, data and estimation model behind MPM23 and includes a user manual for the spreadsheet model MPM23 and a chapter on potential improvements and further developments of the model.
