Environmental zones - improved urban environment. Opportunities and challenges

The Norwegian white paper "Improving the environment in cities and villages", introduces environmental zones as a new means of improving the urban environment. The purpose is to implement specific measures in environmentally challenged city areas, and to link different efforts and measures into a comprehensive improvement package.This report summarizes the experiences drawn from foreign city-areas and Norwegian experiences with city-environment improvement projects. The government should provide advice, support and allocate resources to evaluate the implementation of new environmental zones.
