Sammendrag

During the transport strike 14.5 - 9.6 1998, most regular bus traffic was cancelled. The report describes the effects of the bus strike in Oslo, Akershus and Sør-Trøndelag. The data stems from a telephone survey and road traffic counts in Oslo and Sør-Trøndelag. Some chose to work at home or to take time off during the strike, but the majority went to work. However, many people travelled at other times. In Oslo most people chose tram or subway, in Akershus car and train, and in Sør-Trøndelag car. Traffic counts show that road traffic increased substantially in Sør-Trøndelag, but the road traffic increase in the Oslo area was quite modest. A clear majority said the strike did not create problems for them. The most important reason being that most people have alternative modes of transport they may use during a bus strike.
