Analysis of the fleet of cars in Oslo and Akershus households

In connection with the project "Better Urban Air" one of the suggestions is to prohibit the use of older cars (01.01.89) inside the toll ring in Oslo. The prohibition will apply on days with air pollution above specified limits. Based on data from the travel behaviour survey in 1997/98 we have excamined the amount of households the prohibition will affect, and possible special characteristis in this group of households. More than 1/4 of the households in Oslo and Akershus own or have only acess to old cars. The difference between the different groups are generally small. There seem to be some correlation between low income and the ownership/acess to old cars. 1/3 of the families with children (< 7 year) own or have only acess to older cars.
