Sammendrag

Travel demand and modal split are surveyed for three main corridors in Norway: Oslo-Trondheim, Oslo-Bergen and Bergen-Stavanger. Data are gathered through on-board surveys among travelers. The total traffic flow to/from the Trondheim region in the period Nov. 2009-Oct. 2010 is estimated at 1.9 million trips. The same volume is found for the Oslo-Bergen corridor. Also, the market structure is fairly similar in these two corridors; air travel accounts for just over half of the journeys. However, rail travel shows higher market shares to the Bergen region (20 vs. 14%). There is less traffic between Bergen and Stavanger (app. 900' trips per year), and the level-of-service and travel patterns differ somewhat from the other corridors. In general, the car is the most frequently used mode (45%), followed by air (39%), bus (13%) and boat (3%).
