The issue of this report is travel activities in everyday life for women and men respectively. Time, space and transport means are three important dimensions of the everyday journey. These concepts are the basis both for the theoretical discussion and the empirical analyses.
The empirical analyses are mainly based on travel behaviour surveys and surveys about attitudes from Oslo and Akershus from 1977 to 1990. The results show that women and men have different activity and travel patterns. The journeys of women are more complex, their journeys are more often multipurpose and they use different transport means on the same journey. Women use public transport and walk and cycle more than men, and they have fewer fringe benefits related to car use.
