In this report, transport performance figures for the year 2006 are presented together with other relevant Norwegian transport statistics. Domestic passenger transport performance increased by 0.8 per cent in 2006. Road traffic rose by 1.7 per cent. Public transport by tram and rail increased in 2006. Domestic air transport also showed an upward trend. International passenger transport in 2006 was higher than ever, about 53 million trips being taken. Domestic freight transport increased by 3.6 per cent in 2006, all three modes - sea, road and rail - showing considerable growth. The volume of freight to and from the mainland was at about the same level in 2006 as in the year before. Oil and gas exported directly from the Norwegian continental shelf decreased by four per cent in 2006.
