Sammendrag

This report deals with the barriers people may have against public transport, and proposes several measures to reduce barrieres and to make the system easier to use. Topics like lower prices and high frequency will not be discussed in this report. The barriers are devided into 5 categories; informative, physical, psychological, cultural and practical barriers. The report recommends the following strategies: 1) Evaluate the barriers/problems. 2) Simpler route structure, i.e. a simple network and development of interchanges. 3) Simpler fare system and ticketing. 4) Market communication, primarily passenger information. 5) Regional co-operation. The overall purpose is that the public transport service should be as simple, comprehensible and accessible as possible for the customers.
