Schedule-based transit assignment can provide an accurate calculation of waiting time between corresponding services compared to headway-based assignment. CUBE Voyager’s methodology of schedule-based transit assignment has been examined based on a set of simplified cases. The algorithms in CUBE assume that the travelers are optimizing their total travel time, and the initial waiting time is assumed to be zero. Accordingly, calculation of the initial waiting time is not affected by the frequency of the transit service. In CUBE, adding an extra transit line does not necessary improve the transit service because computing of combined routes does not necessary take the new bus line into account. The result is dependent on the departure time of the services. Consequently, an further improvement of CUBE Voyager’s Schedule-based transit algorithms is needed before this approach can be implemented in the regional passenger transport models RTM.
