Results indicate that an economic driving style in bus transport is associated with lower energy use. We have indications of corresponding maintenance savings. A fleet management system that registers driving style (sudden acceleration and deceleration), is the most important measure related to economic driving. Results suggest that an economic driving style is associated with lower accident risk, as drivers with the highest score in the fleet management system have almost half the accident risk of drivers with low and medium scores. The results also seem to indicate that an economic driving style is associated with higher passenger comfort. Our study shows relationships between: 1) Environmental management and environmental culture, 2) Drivers' active use of the fleet management system, 3) Drivers' scores in the fleet management system, 4) Drivers' driving style and 5) Drivers' involvement in accidents.
