Sammendrag

In the town of Drammen a major re-routing of the main roads system is being carried out. The Drammen road package will redistribute traffic from central town areas to a new ring road system with several tunnels. In 2003 804 respondents from several sub-areas of Drammen were interviewed about their opinions of neighbourhood quality and traffic. This study functions as a follow up of a previous study carried out in 1998/1999. After the opening of the Bragernes- and Strømsås tunnels road traffic noise and annoyance has been reduced in the area. There has been no reduction in air pollution. The road package has however lead to an improved traffic flow, especially for cyclists (72 percent saying mobility is good or very good compared to 63 percent in 1998). Also car drivers say the traffic flow is improved.
