Full report

In connection with the transport authorities' work to reach the climate targets for the transport sector in 2030, TØI has assisted with the calculation of future transport volumes and CO2-emissions in two "climate trajectories". In these paths, measures are taken to reduce transport activity, while an optimistic phasing-in rate for zero-emission vehicles and a high blending of biofuel is assumed. Both the measures, in the form of strong price increases for transport, and assumed technology development and bio-blending, are challenging to implement in practice, and it will be very difficult to reach a climate target where the emissions from the entire transport sector in 2030 should be 55 per cent lower than in 1990. This corresponds to a 65 percent reduction from the emissions in 2021.
