Sammendrag

Intermodal competition in Norwegian freight has been analysed for varying commodities, lengths of haul and transport corridors. We have calculated a potential transfer from road to rail or sea freight for all domestic hauls longer than 300 kms that have railway or port facilities within no more than 25 kms at each end. For imports and exports, calculations are based on identified hubs outside Norway. The total potential transfer from road to sea or rail freight is found to correspond to approximately 26% of the total ton kilometres hauled by road on Norwegian territory.
