Geographic information about locations perceived as insecure by inhabitants in Oslo was collected using a geo-questionnaire; a questionnaire with an interactive map. The results show that a large majority of the respondents feel secure in their own neighbourhood. In the city centre, just over half of the respondents registered places where they feel insecure or avoid due to feelings of insecurity. Most of the respondents are insecure only at evening and night time. A higher proportion of women than men feel insecure, both in their own neighborhood and in downtown Oslo. There are also more women than men that registered multiple insecure areas on the interactive map.
