Hordaland County has one large urban area, Bergen, and a number of smaller municipalities. The county has approved an action plan to reduce the negative effects of car use on the climate. Parking policy is a local responsibility. This report gives an overview of parking measures which the communities can use in order to reduce the number of trips by car and the length of car journeys. The accessibility to jobs and services will have to be maintained. Some measures have immediate effect (pricing), while others only will give effect over time (restrictions on the number of new parking spaces).
