Sammendrag

In political discussions it is argued that investments in infrastructure, especially roads, stimulate regional development and are crucial for the ability of industry to compete in international markets. This report reviews these assumptions in the light of available litterature on direct and indirect effects of infrastructure investments. It is difficult to prove the existence of such effects from a methological point of view because several factors play a role at the same time, effects have a long term character and roadbuilding is performed in a step-by-step manner in all parts of the country.
