Implementation of road accident countermeasures. Proceedings from workshop June 10-12, 2002, Marholmen, Norrtälje, Sweden

Visions, quantified targets and plans for the reduction of road accidents exist in Scandinavia. A large amount of knowledge exists on the effects of road accident countermeasures, and there are highly qualified experts in this field. Nevertheless, effective road accident countermeasures are sometimes difficult to implement to a sufficient extent. Even though research on the implementation of countermeasures exists, this field of research has a weaker tradition than other research within road safety. As an assignment from the Swedish National Road Administration the TØI and the VTI have arranged a joint workshop on the implementation of road safety measures.The purpose of the workshop was to present the state of the art in this field, emphasizing possibilities for improvement and topics for further research.
