Sammendrag

The purpose of the project has been to assess whether it would be useful to have a method for holistic inspection of urban road facilities, and to make suggestions for such a method. We think it would be better to supplement the existing inspection systems by a holistic inspection system for urban road facilities rather than by more independent inspection systems for all parameters and road user groups. We recommend that this method should focus on behaviour and interaction between different road users rather than being a detailed review of faults and deficiencies in the physical road design and regulation as well as in operation and maintenance. We recommend that The Norwegian Public Roads Administration continue the development of this method in order to make it part of a complete inspection system.
