This study documents the expenditure by foreign visitors to Norway in the winter and summer seasons of 2005. The report is based on the Foreign Visitor Survey 2005, a representative sample survey of all foreign visitors to Norway. The expenditure study includes all foreign visitors that had stayed overnight and were on a holiday trip (including visiting friends and relatives). The average consumption expenditure per tourist travelling by car was approximately NOK 4,100 in the winter and NOK 4,500 in the summer season. Tourists that travel by air when visiting Norway spent more than motor tourists, on average NOK 9,700 in the winter season and NOK 13,300 in the summer. Total expenditure by foreign holidaymakers travelling by car and by air is estimated to NOK 6.3 billion in the winter season and NOK 10.5 billion in the summer season 2005. 1 NOK = appr. € 0.12.
