Six information campaigns carried out by the Swedish National Road Administration are assessed as to effects and evaluation. In all the six campaigns information is used together with other countermeasures to improve safety, mobility or the environment. The combination of information with other activities seems to be an efficient way of applying information, but it makes it difficult to distinguish between effects of information and effects of the other countermeasures. All six campaigns are evaluated - mostly quite thoroughly. But there is great variation in amount, type and quality of evaluation, a fact which indicates that the Road Administration considers evaluation important. Nevertheless, it should consider its needs and purposes for evaluation to spend resources wisely and increase possibilities for improvement.
