Experiments with thermo controlled transport of foodstuffs by bus in the counties of Sogn og Fjordane and Oppland show that combined goods-passenger buses with cooling capacity is a competitive alternative to traditional distribution. In areas with dens population will use of combined goods-passenger buses enhance the market for public transport in the area. We also show that changes in existing distribution solutions among suppliers takes lots of resources, apart from consignees who are very pleased with the new alternative. The cooling capacity of the storage room is an important factor for success.
