Total accommodation statistics in Norway comprise hotels and camping sites of a certain size only. Hence, estimation of tourist guest nights by county or lower geographic levels requires considerable data work in combining these statistics with sample surveys covering domestic and inbound tourism. This report presents county-wise results for 1997, comprising domestic and inbound guest-nights by type of trip and type of accommodation. It also discusses and presents data sources and estimation methods. The results are used in the establishment of county-wise satellite accounts for tourism, prepared by the National Bureau of Statistics.
