Total tourist consumption is estimated at 1,47 billion NOK in Aust-Agder county and 2,57 billion NOK in Vest-Agder county (2005). Total direct and indirect production impacts are estimated at 1,6 bill NOK and 3,14 bill NOK, respectively. Tourism related employment is estimated at 2 600 jobs in Aust-Agder and 4 650 jobs in Vest-Agder. Tourists in second homes constitute nearly 40 % of total tourist accommodation, but only 20 % of the tourist consumption. There are 31 800 second homes in the two counties and plans for a 40 % increase. Development of second home areas gives rise to substantial regional and local profits and employment. The analyses in this report have been carried out also for smaller regions within the two counties.
