Sammendrag

In this project we have conducted cost benefit analysis of increased frequency for four Norwegian ferry connections. We have selected a wide range of connections in order to be able to transfer the results to other connections. Based on the cost benefit analysis we have identified some common conditions that should be fulfilled in order to achieve positive net present value from increased frequency. The connection should among other things have a sufficient amount of traffic. Further, increase in frequency should take place on connections where the time spent on the ferry makes up a substantial share of the total travel time for the transport users. Finally, focus should be on using smaller ferries than today.
