Cycling has a low share of the modal split in Tromsø. Similar to findings in other cities studied within the project Tellesykkel, the young persons using bicycle for transport purposes represent the largest number of cyclists in Tromsø. Most cycling is confined to the Tromsø island, in particular between the city center, university and hospital. The cyclist are mostly content with their situation. However, they point to a few points where there are challenges for cyclists, in particular on the island side of the Tromsø-sund bridge and on the south eastern side of the airport. But, there are also challenging situations marked along the main road (862).
