Sammendrag

Europe and Norway are at the moment characterized by increased urbanization and increased requirements for efficient last mile deliveries in cities. This study has developed and a tool for cost benefit analysis and logistical analysis of harmonizing loading docks and use of various dimensions for lorries and vans used in city distribution. In our analysis, we study the logistic and socio-economic effects of four scenarios, when introducing maximum truck lengths of 10 metres and height restrictions on trucks used in inner parts of Oslo in addition to requirements on the area and height of loading docks. Our analysis suggests that only one of the measures (the Gothenburg-alternative) gives a positive net benefit, but there is uncertainty surrounding the results due to questionable data quality.
