An internet based survey on commuting and measures for reduction of car use is carried out among students and employees at BI Norwegian business School. About 100 students and 300 employees responded. Among the employees 43 percent travel by public transport, 75 percent of the students. 33 percent of the employees go by car, only one percent of the students. The average commuting distance is 19 km for employees and 9 km for the students. The travel time is respectively 33 min and 23 min. The main reasons for using the car is time saving, flexibility, and taking children to school and day care. 38 percent of the car users said that they wanted to travel more often by public transport. A change in travel mode for this group from car to other modes will reduce the emission of CO2 with 32 percent.
