Sammendrag

A bicycle express route is a high standard bicycle path reserved for bicyclists for fast and direct commuting over long distances. Over the last five years, several such routes have become the object of public planning. A review of planned and completed projects in 15 countries shows that the measure has a positive effect for bicyclists and can make more commuters prefer the bicycle over the car at distances of 5-20 km. We recommend this measure to be included in the Norwegian bicycle handbook.
