Automatic coding of public transport routes for regional passenger models

Traditionally, updating the input data for public transport to the Regional Transport Model System has been very time-consuming. The launching of a National database for public transport services provides an opportunity to replace a manual process with an application. TØI has developed the application NeTEx2TNExt as an add-on to ArcGIS. NeTEx2TNExt uses data in Norwegian Profile Network Timetable Exchange Format (NeTEx). NeTEx2TNExt implements rules and time periods given by the user to produce a set of public transport routes. The output from NeTEx2TNExt are designed for import into TNExtension.
