Research Director: Trine Dale
The department provide knowledge on traffic safety and security problems relevant to planning and decision making processes in public administration and private business. The research consists of the prevalence of accidents, road safety evaluations, studies of driver behaviour and safety and risk management in transport. An important activity is the continuous updating of the Handbook of Road Safety Measures which describes effects of more than 150 road safety measures, mainly based on meta-analysis. The Norwegian Internet versions of the handbook is regularly revised.
