International Cycling Safety Conference 2025 comes to Oslo

The Institute of Transport Economics is proud to host the International Cycling Safety Conference (ICSC) 2025 – the world’s leading scientific conference on cyclist safety.

The event will take place in Oslo from 4-6 November 2025 and bring together researchers, decision-makers, and professionals from around the globe. This year’s theme is Knowledge for Prevention, aiming to highlight new research and insights that can help prevent accidents and promote safer cycling for all.

Since its inception in 2012, ICSC has served as an important meeting point for scientists and professionals dedicated to improving cycling safety. The conference provides space for exchange and discussion – and for reconnecting with old colleagues and meeting new ones. Over the years, hundreds of contributions have raised novel research questions and presented practical, innovative solutions aimed at making cycling safer.

ICSC 2025 kicks off on Tuesday 4 November with scientific workshops at TØI’s premises in Oslo Science Park and a guided technical cycling tour of the city. The day concludes with an official welcome reception at Oslo City Hall – something TØI researcher and conference organizer Siri Hegna Berge is particularly proud of:

“We are excited to welcome international colleagues to Oslo. Opening the conference at City Hall is an honour and sets the tone for an event focused on collaboration, safety, and forward-looking solutions.”

The main conference program takes place on 5 and 6 November at Sentralen in central Oslo, featuring parallel scientific sessions, poster presentations, and discussions on how research can be translated into improved cycling safety worldwide. Keynote speakers this year include Anna Niska (Sweden) and Dick de Waard (Netherlands), both recognized leaders in the field of traffic safety and cycling research.

Registration opens in June.
