Research activities at the Institute of Transport Economics are organised in 12 main research areas. Each area is defined by a research framework defining its overall purpose and the specific research questions that are to be answered by the different research projects.
A Chief Research Officer is in charge of his/her research area, and quality assurance of the prosjects is part of his/her responsibilites. No programmes are initiated without core financial support for the activities.
In some cases, the Institute will provide the core financial support, but in most cases the Research Council of Norway or the authorities provide the necessary funding.
