In October 2006 the Institute of Transport Economics carried out a travel survey in the Fredrikstad/Sarpsborg area. The survey provides information for travel frequency, trip purpose and transport mode. The car is used on 75 per cent of the daily trips. Four per cent of the trips are carried out by public transport. Most trips are short, 40 per cent being shorter than three km.
