Improvement of transport infrastructure reduces the disadvantages of distance. Essentially, this means that more people have access to greater regions for employment and services. For the regions affected, it can be both positive and negative. The size of the labour market is significant with regard to provision of services, industry structure and dynamics. It is argued that labour markets with less than 8-10 000 employees functions less than larger labour markets, while there are small differences in the labour markets larger than 8-10 000 employees with regard to selected functions.
