In this report, transport performance figures for the year 2004 are presented together with other relevant Norwegian transport statistics. Domestic passenger transport performance increased by 1.6 per cent in 2004. Road traffic rose by 2.0 per cent. Public transport by bus and rail increased considerably in 2004, and also domestic air transport showed an upward trend. International passenger transport in 2004 was higher than ever. Domestic transport of goods increased by six per cent in 2004, and both ship, rail and road freight traffic showed a considerable growth. The quantity of freight to and from the mainland was roughly at the same level in 2004 as the year before. Oil and gas exported directly from the Norwegian continental shelf decreased by one per cent in 2004.
