Transport performance in Norway 1946–2002

In this report, transport performance figures for the year 2002 are presented together with other relevant Norwegian transport statistics. Domestic passenger transport performance increased by 1.2 per cent in 2002. Road traffic rose by 3.0 per cent. Public transport by bus and boat mainly remained at the 2001-level, while traffic by rail and air decreased considerably. International Passenger Transport in 2002 was higher than ever. Domestic transport of goods decreased by 0.5 per cent in 2002, despite a 2.5 per cent growth in road transport. The quantity of freight to and from the mainland was mainly at the same level in 2002 than the year before. Oil and gas export directly from the Norwegian continental shelf increased by three per cent in 2002.
