Transport Performance in Norway 1946-1996

In this publication, transport performance figures for the year 1996 are presented together with other relevant Norwegian transport statistics. Initiated by an economic upturn, domestic passenger transport performance increased by 4.3 per cent in 1996. Private car transport rose by four per cent and air traffic showed an increase by 10 per cent. Domestic transport of goods increased by 6.5 per cent in 1996. Road transport is most important as far as mainland transport is concerned, while ship is dominating mode in external trade.
