This working paper describes the regional planning of land use and transport in the Hanover region. The report describes the land use and transport planning in the Hanover region with regard to recent decision processes relevant for the coordination of spatial development and transport planning. The report also gives an overview over the regional coordination (governance) in the Hanover region and how these governance structures influence the institutional conditions for a successful integration of land use and transport planning. The report show that the region has actively developed a planning instruments to frame the spatial development at a regional level, but where the municipalities are integrated both in the development and implementation of these policy instruments, such as localisation plans for retail trade, designation of urban development centres and development frames for residential areas in areas with low population density. The report is published electronically and written in German.
