Authors: Marika Kolbenstvedt
Report nr: 1096/1998
Language: Norwegian

This report presents results from surveys in 1994 and 1996 to study the effects of the Ekebergtunnel. The Ekeberg tunnel is the second stage of a major effort to alliviate the Vålerenga/Gamlebyen area from the negative environmental impacts of traffic. Though traffic has decreased, the traffic situation in the study area is still the main source of discontent. There has been small changes since 1994. Many people are highly annoyed by road traffic, noise and pollution and these problems affect their daily life. Peoples subjective opinions match the level of road traffic they are exposed to. The residents suggestions for improvement of the town area is to reduce traffic further through restrictions, street closures and speed reducing measures. Urban rehabilitation and improvement of open spaces are also among the suggestions.
