Sammendrag

The study summarizes knowledge about the role of the car for the mobility of children, teenagers, the elderly and the disabled in western countries. While there is a lot of knowledge about school travels and the use of car, there is a knowledge gap about car use on transport of children and teenagers to leisure acktivites. Elderly and elderly disabled persons use of car is measured in many countries. The use of car in relation to different types of travel purposes and differences in car use between people with different travel patterns are covered to a lesser extent. The use of car and travel patterns among younger disabled people remains almost unexplored. For all groups studied there is little knowledge about differences in actual daily trips and wanted daily trips.
