In this report we evaluate the effects of competitive tendering of transport of patients on supply of rural taxi services. Particular attention has been paid to cases where the taxi industry has faced competition from other actors (e.g. the tourist coach industry). The main conclusion is that overall loss of services has been a marginal problem in Norway so far. However, long term trends point towards continued service reduction in rural areas if the current combination of market regulations and use of competitive tendering is maintained.
