This report analyses de economic and CO2-related impacts of blending inn considerable volumes of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) in the jet fuel used in air traffic in Northern Norway. Scenario analyses indicates that 50% or 100% SAF for routes within Northern Norway could increase the share of SAF in Norwegian domestic aviation from 6% to 9% or 12%, and that it could be financed by Government subsidies in the order of magnitude of 125 or 260 mill. NOK per year in 2030. Including also 50% or 100% blend-inn on routes to and from Northern Norway will increase the SAF share to about one fourth or half of the jet fuel used on domestic routes. However, the costs for the Government budget increases accordingly to 800 or 1 700 mill. NOK per year. The results are put in perspective by comparing with revenues from aviation taxes, biofuel volumes in road transport and strategic railway or road investments in the region.
