The report gives an overview of various international organisations’ work in the field of Strategic Environmental Assessment applied to the transport sector. Of particular relevance seems to be achievements within OECD’s RoadResearch, EU (DG VII & DG XI) and national experiences with SEA in the Netherlands, UK, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. A focus is put on experi-ences with corridor studies in the Netherlands, SEA applied within national road planning in Sweden and achievements with SEA in county planning in the UK. As for Norway, the report indicates that further development of SEA in transport is particularly relevant for the County Roads Office’s planning programmes, urban transport planning and within the planning of single mode and multimodal transport corridors.
