Sammendrag

Examples of speed reducing measures for pedestrian crosswalks that can be used on roads with a 50 or 60 km/h speed limit have been collected in this report. The examples show that the most promising measures are road measures that deter drivers from speeding and that at the same time improve sight conditions and make crossing easier for pedestrians, e.g. by shortening the crossing distance. Examples are sidewalk extensions, chicanes, pedestrian refuges and speed cushions. An increase of the number of crosswalks may reduce speed as well.
